The Year One Team hope that everyone has had a great start to the new year. If you have any questions please come in and have a chat with us
All information about what the children are learning about during autumn term has been published in the class newsletter, which went home on the 14/1/2015. This is also available to download at the bottom of the page.
Words to read write and spell have also gone home, these will be linked to what children are studying in Phonics and will change on a weekly basis for Mr Hastings and Mrs North's groups.
Welcome to Year 1!
On this page you will find information about all the different things that are happening in Year 1.
Some things you need to know:
PE will be on a Tuesday and Thursday - please make sure your child has their PE kit in school for then.
Your child will need their reading book every day - please make sure they bring their book bag in!
We will be doing lots of exciting things this term - please come and let us know if you would like to help out in class - it could be with art or reading, or just generally taking part!
Phonics - we will be doing phonics every day - use the websites below to help your child practice their phonics. If you need to know what phase they are on, please come and ask. All children will be working between phases 3 and 6.
Our phonics are taught using Letters and Sounds alongside Jolly Phonics.
We follow the Oxford Reading Tree Scheme supported by appropriately levelled books to extend and develop the children's reading skills.
We have an expectation that the children read with an adult at home at least three times per week and that a comment is added into your child's reading diary. We will reward children who read regularly.
We would like children to become competent in their 2 ,5 and 10 times table. It is also useful if they can practise telling the time.
